Time to dust off the old uniforms and patches and start putting everything back together.
Guys (and Gals), please read, and re-blog. Post this on your facebook. Forward it to your local politician (I have already reached out to Sen. Scott Brown about this). Help bring national attention to this terrible situation faced by one of our nations heroes.
Former U.S. Marine Jon Hammar is in a Matamoros prison in Mexico, charged with bringing an antique shotgun into Mexico.
MEXICO CITY — As a U.S. Marine, Jon Hammar endured nightmarish tension patrolling the war-ravaged streets of Iraq’s Fallujah. When he came home, the brutality of war still pinging around his brain, mental peace proved elusive.
Surfing provided the only respite.
“The only time Hammar is not losing his mind is when he’s on the water,” said a fellow Marine veteran, Ian McDonough.
Hammar and McDonough devised a plan: They’d buy a used motor home, load on the surfboards and drive from the Miami area toCosta Rica to find “someplace to be left alone, someplace far off the grid,” McDonough said.
They made it to only the Mexican border. Hammar is in a Matamoros prison, where he spends much of his time chained to a bed and facing death threats from gangsters. He’s off the grid, for sure, in walking distance of the U.S. border. But it’s more of a black hole than a place to heal a troubled soul.

The Marine Corps prides itself on “No man left behind.” It’s time for our Government to try and live up to the Marine Corps standard.

This Veterans Day, I ask that you don’t thank me. I’ve been thanked for things that I’m not entirely sure I should be thanked for. I’m a citizen now. What I’ve done in my past is just that, past. I ask that you take $5 and donate it to a charity. Aside from that the only way I can say that you can really thank us is to join us.
Apparently Ted Turner believes that members of the US Military committing suicide is a “good” thing:
In an interview with CNN host Piers Morgan last week, Media mogul and CNN founder Ted Turner said the fact that there have been more suicides than combat deaths in the Army this year is not “shocking,” but “good.”
Highlighted first by Breitbart.com, the Oct. 19 interview has Turner speculating that “it’s time to put war and conflict behind us and move on,” and the rising rate of self-inflicted troop deaths is good because it brings attention to that view.
Don’t think I ever posted this, but this was an IED we found and blew in place one day while on patrol.
So one night, while on the VSP, I decided I needed to take a shit.
I didn’t really decide this, my gastrointestinal tract did, but the point remains. I put my legs into motion and walked to the shitters.
This is the scene I walked into.
Needless to say I no longer needed, or wanted, to shit. Ever.
(Yes, that is one camel spider, approximately the size of my hand, eating another camel spider)
I love this so, so much. TAKE THAT, MILSO’S!!!
Single soldiers are usually young, handsome and athletic. No wonder they so easily turn a girl’s head. However, here are 43 reasons I think you should not marry a military man. You will never make a bigger mistake in your life. You must use your head as well as your heart.
One year ago today the world lost an amazing man, and am amazing warrior.
RIP SSG Michael Hosey.

“Greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for a friend”
KABUL, Afghanistan — It was once President Barack Obama’s “war of necessity.” Now, it’s America’s forgotten war.
The Afghan conflict generates barely a whisper on the U.S. presidential campaign trail. It’s not a hot topic at the office water cooler or in the halls of Congress — even though more than 80,000 American troops are still fighting here and dying at a rate of one a day.
I’ve never made it through the entirety of “Restrepo.” I just can’t do it.
Tonight will be no different.
